"AMD and Fujitsu Collaborate on Sustainable Open-Source AI
AMD and Fujitsu have partnered to create energy-efficient, open-source platforms aimed at advancing AI and high-performance computing (HPC). This collaboration, built on a memorandum of understanding (MOU),
combines AMD's powerful Instinct™ accelerators with Fujitsu's FUJITSU-MONAKA1, a next-gen Arm-based processor designed for high performance with low energy consumption. The goal is to offer customers optimized computing solutions that balance performance with cost-effectiveness, especially in the growing fields of generative AI and HPC.
The two companies will focus on three key areas: engineering, ecosystems, and business. Their efforts include jointly developing new
AI/HPC platforms by 2027, improving open-source software, and expanding the ecosystem to make AI more accessible and sustainable. This partnership aims to reduce the environmental impact of AI while promoting its use across various industries and supporting Japan's technological leadership and sustainability goals.
