Apple Delays Budget Vision Pro Headset Release Until 2027: Is It Still a Reality? X
ple’s premium Vision Pro headset, which is priced at $3,499 (about ₹2,90,000), has not seen the sales growth the company expected. To boost its success, Apple had planned to release a more affordable version of the Vision Pro, priced around $2,000 (roughly ₹1,68,000). This budget-friendly model was expected to launch next year, but well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo now says that the release has been delayed until after 2027.
The upcoming affordable version of the Vision Pro will likely have lower-quality components to keep the cost down. For example, it may feature a less powerful chip, lower-resolution displays, and even remove some premium features like EyeSight, which shows the wearer’s eyes on the headset’s front display. Instead of the powerful M2 processor in the original Vision Pro, the new headset will likely use a simpler chip.
Kuo explained that launching a cheaper version of the Vision Pro too soon could hurt Apple’s goal of creating a strong use case for the product, just like how the HomePod mini, despite being a more affordable version of the original HomePod, didn’t become a mainstream product. Therefore, the delay makes sense as Apple focuses on refining its high-end model before introducing a lower-cost alternative.
This decision shows that Apple wants to ensure that the Vision Pro can achieve success in the market before expanding to more budget-friendly models. In the meantime, Apple will release an updated version of the original Vision Pro in 2025, which will come with a new M5 processor to improve its performance.
