Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro: In-Depth Review and Analysis
Huawei's focus on wearables in recent years has clearly paid off with the release of the Watch GT 5 Pro. This latest flagship smartwatch brings some notable improvements over its predecessors, offering new features that make it a competitive choice in the wearable market.
One of the standout features of the Watch GT 5 Pro is the TruSense health monitoring system, which is the first of its kind to be featured in an international wearable. TruSense includes six advanced sensors that aim to provide more accurate readings for heart rate, SpO2 (blood oxygen), blood pressure, and sleep tracking. It also offers mental health monitoring, though this feature was unavailable for testing in our region. Huawei has partnered with medical organizations to improve the accuracy of these health metrics, making the GT 5 Pro one of the most precise health tracking devices available.
The Watch GT 5 Pro runs on HarmonyOS 5.0, which brings improvements such as interactive notifications and a QWERTY keyboard, allowing for more functionality and convenience when using the watch. Huawei has also added features for runners, like the ability to import GPX tracks onto offline maps for better navigation during workouts. There are pre-designed running routes based on the 12 zodiac signs, though some of these routes could use refinement for a smoother experience.
In terms of design, the GT 5 Pro is available in two sizes: 46 mm and 42 mm. The premium Titanium model we reviewed feels sturdy, though slightly heavier than previous models. The titanium strap has a luxury feel but can make a bit of noise due to the strong vibration motor. However, the watch supports standard 22mm straps, so you can easily swap it out for a different look.
Battery life is one of Huawei’s strengths, with the GT 5 Pro offering impressive endurance. We tested the watch with heavy daily use and it lasted up to 10 days, which is in line with Huawei’s claim. Running with GPS on consumed very little battery, with only 1% used for a 30-minute session. Charging from 0 to 100% takes around 70 minutes, which is slightly longer than Huawei’s estimate but still quite efficient.
In conclusion, the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro is an excellent smartwatch that combines solid build quality, long battery life, and a wide range of health and fitness features. While the price may be high at €499, it offers a premium experience that’s worth the investment, especially if you’re into fitness or simply want a reliable smartwatch with advanced health tracking features. The more affordable black version with the fluoroelastomer strap at €379 is a better value for many users, especially those who plan to use the watch for sports.
Overall, the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro is a standout in the wearable market, offering both style and functionality in one package.
